HATS OFF FOR CANCER ANNOUNCES
NEW OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE
In Partnership with Stetson, One Man's Mission to Deliver an Inaugural Hat to President-elect
Obama Could Bring $50,000 to Charity
January 17, 2009 - LOS ANGELES - Hats Off For Cancer
announces a new partnership with hat maker Stetson. From now until Inauguration
Day, 25 year-old filmmaker Josh Shayne and his friend James Darling will follow
President-elect Obama, starting tomorrow in Philadelphia, hat in hand. Their mission
is to hand-deliver a Stetson fedora "the Pinnacle" to the President-elect to wear
for his inauguration.
For every hat sold through Josh's web site, hatforobama.com,
Stetson will donate a portion of the proceeds up to $50,000 to Hats Off For Cancer,
an organization that provides hats for children who have lost their hair as a result
of cancer treatment.
"I was just delighted when I received the call from Stetson regarding Josh's mission,"
said Tara Lawrence, director of Hats Off for Cancer (HOC). "We're always thrilled
to receive donations, and the possibility of receiving as much as $50,000 for HOC
is huge. I hope our HOC community will help spread the word about Josh and his web
site to help raise money for our cause."
Supporters can follow Josh's journey at
hatforobama.com, where he will be blogging, posting video and updating a
map of his location between now and Inauguration Day. Three versions of the black
fedora style selected will be available on Josh?s web site - "The Pinnacle", "The
Temple" and "The Plaza". Proceeds from sales of all three hats will benefit HOC.
